Google Play
Intro

Entertainment means fun, no
restrictions and it gets better if everything comes under one roof;
that's what Google is trying to provide with its new Avatar of
Android Market turned Google Play, a digital marketplace for
mobile applications, music, movies and books unified under a new
name in an effort to enhance the shopping experience.
On your Android device, you'll get
four app updates within the next few days:
• The Android Market will become "Play
Store."
• Google Music will become "Play
Music."
• Google Movies will become "Play
Movies."
• eBookstore will become "Play
Books."
New services also a
part

Google's recently launched
eBookstore and online music service will also be part of Google
Play. It aims to eliminate all hassle of finding various services
offered by Google under various brands with Google Play, which is
now a digital entertainment destination where one can find, enjoy
and share your favorite music, movies, books and apps on the web
and on your Android phone or tablet. Google Play is entirely
cloud-based so all your music, movies, books and apps are stored
online, always available to users so that you never have to worry
about losing them or moving them again.
Everything is same except the name

None of the changes made will
affect the digital content that existing customers have already
purchased and stored on Google computers in password-protected
accounts. Additionally, though Play is marketed heavily to android
users any Google user can use the service to take advantage of
cloud-based content management. So, you can rent a movie, upload
and purchase music, and buy books on one computer, and access it
all on any other desktop.
Google Plans Diversification

The effort to introduce Google Play
is expected to be part of Google's business strategy in order to
broader ambition in diversifying beyond online advertising, which
still accounts for 96 percent of the search giant's revenue. The
launch of Google play is keeping in view of users who search
android market for mobile apps, which will also be introduced
with more quality content under one brand i.e. one stop solution.
This also provides an opportunity for more digital content
providers to get their apps published in the market and
simultaneously provides more content exposure to the users.
Deals to Lure Traffic
To lure traffic to the new store, Google is offering daily
specials that lower the prices on featured apps or content
available on the Play.
Growing Android Market
Since the launch of the android market in October 2008, it had
steadily grown along with the usage of mobile devices running on
Google's Android software. More than 300 million Android devices
are currently in use worldwide. Another 6 million are activated
each week. The huge audience is the main reason the Android Market
has amassed more than 450,000 mobile apps.
